I am going to combine my worry about my job, and my resolution to be more vocal, and actually try and ask what is going on and whether I will have a job to come back to.
But I am also going to start looking for new jobs today.

Don't forget to take some time out for you hon, 8 weeks will probably feel longer for you than me but really aint that long.
There is also something called Keeping In touch days (look on the direct.gov website under maternity/keeping in touch) where you can go in and do 10 days either together or one a week/month. You could use this earlier into new motherhood to see what job they intend to give you on your return and then decide if you like it.
